Stories That Matter. Films That Inspire.

Foxfire Film Festival is an annual celebration of documentary storytelling, community, and emerging voices — held in Wheeling, WV.

About Foxfire

Stories have the power to open hearts, spark change, and bring us together.

The Foxfire Film Festival is built on a simple but powerful belief: storytelling can change the world. By lifting up the voices of student filmmakers and showcasing thought-provoking documentaries from around the globe, Foxfire creates a space where creativity thrives and important conversations take root. Over four inspiring days, audiences will gather to experience films that tackle some of today’s most urgent issues—social justice, environmental challenges, human rights, and history—reminding us that through story, we can find connection, understanding, and hope.

Student Film Competition: Your Story Starts Here

Foxfire Film Festival is inviting student filmmakers across West Virginia to submit their work for our Student Documentary Film Competition! If you’re a current high school, college, or higher education student with a powerful story to share, we want to see your short documentary — 3 to 10 minutes that capture your voice and your vision. Selected films will be featured during our final day of the festival, with cash prizes, mentoring opportunities, and special awards announced during our closing celebration. It’s your opportunity to tell your story, show your strength, and make your voice heard.
